Experienced, skilled, professional - everyone in our team is dedicated to providing superb customer service on every contract we work on.
Many of our employees have been with the company since starting their apprenticeships, progressing through the company and passing their skills and knowledge on to the next generation.
The team is led by Managing Director David Shouksmith, supported by Finance Director Andrew Stanley, Commercial Manager Edward Shouksmith and the main Board of Directors. This highly experienced and committed group work closely together to drive the company forward and continuously improve all that we do.
Here we meet some of the people who play key roles in our company and the successful delivery of our projects.
Division Director, Maintenance and Refrigeration Division
Apprentice trained as a refrigeration engineer in Leeds, Ken has spent his whole career in the refrigeration and maintenance sector and has acquired a vast range of skills and experience . Ken runs a team of 14 and is closely involved with all elements of the service provided. He enjoys the variety of work involved and, as he says “working with a brilliant team of people, who are all committed to providing the very best service and delivering effective solutions to a client’s challenges”
Senior Electrical Projects Manager, York Office
Rob has recently joined Shouksmiths and has been involved in a number of high profile projects in York and Leeds from a city Park and Ride to a new student accommodation block. Trained by the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Rob spent many years travelling with the Army both in the UK and overseas before leaving in 2007 to work for an electrical contractor in the South, and eventually moving to Yorkshire.
As the seventh generation of the Shouksmith family to take part in the running of the company, Ed began his career and became a fully qualified estimator with Morfitts, a former trading division of Shouksmiths. Ed is now responsible for the buying, estimating and all commercial elements of the company and has most recently been working on projects in the student accommodation and private apartments sectors. Away from work he’s trying to find time to start running again and do some DIY!
Jackie joined Shouksmiths 14 years ago and soon after decided to train to be a buyer. Since then Jackie has been a key part of the team working closely with the Estimating and Contract Management teams on a wide range of different projects, making sure that all the fittings, sanitary ware and equipment needed for each project arrives in the right quantity, at the right site at the right time. Jackie is also responsible for the times sheets and wages from all the York operatives, which makes for one busy lady!
Contracts Manager, York Office
Mike joined Shouksmiths as an apprentice in 1991 and after qualifying though York College worked his way up the company to become Contracts Manager in 2013. He is now responsible for making sure all the projects run smoothly, and is currently involved in a number of student accommodation and new build housing projects across Yorkshire. A football fan, when he has chance Mike travels across the Pennines to cheer on Everton.
